On the Menu: STEAMy Fun and Creativity
Order-up! The countdown is on for the most scrumptious event of the year: the iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival in Greenville, SC. Set your alarms for Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 11 am to 5 pm because this is one experience you won't want to miss. The Diner Studio is teaming up with iMAGINE Upstate to deliver a mouthwatering blend of innovation, creativity, and technical fun that will leave our young guests hungry for more.
Prepare to devour a new reality at the “Taste of the Metaverse” exhibit. Like your favorite diner dishes, this experience is made to order, tailored to delight and inspire. As our young guests and their parents step into our booth, Ken, Raina, and our fresh-off-the-grill IRL Officer, Ellie, will create delectable creations designed to entice the senses and awaken their inner tech-curious selves. |
- Buffet Station 1: Hand-drawn Generative Art
- We invite our young guests and their parents to become artistic chefs as they create hand-drawn generative art by selecting from a buffet of character body parts made by Ken to generate unique CHUBBY characters to take home. Raina will photograph each delectable piece of art to be uploaded in our iMAGINE Upstate metaverse gallery for all to enjoy.
- Buffet Station 2: Tinkercad 3D Design
- Here, our chefs will learn to flex their STEAM technical know-how by designing 3D objects with Tinkercad, a free web app for 3D design. Led by ten-year-old Ellie, she will download these culinary technological creations to Google Drive, where our special metaverse guests will be waiting to upload and display these new menu items.
- Buffet Station 3: Metaverse Station on the big screen and in VR
- The Diner Studio iMAGINE Upstate booth is in the metaverse too! All guests will be able to experience seeing our Metaverse volunteers on the big screen! Witness our generous friends uploading and curating our digital diner with our young chefs' tasty generative art and Tinkercad 3D creations! Chefs can don the VR headset and step into the metaverse to interact with the space and in an immersive experience.
- Buffet Station 4: Photo Booth
- As our young chefs exit the exhibit, they are invited to take a selfie with our CHUBBY’s character cutout and props. We ask patrons to post on social media, include the #ATasteOfTheMetaverse, and tag @thediner.rocks (Insta) / @TheDinerStudio (Twitter).
- Buffet Station 5: Feedback Sticky Note Station
- We want to know what our chefs enjoyed and what they think can be improved upon for next time!

Let's F*** Cancer!
A better cause we could not think of to cook up and serve our art to. The Diner Studio is proud to have collectively donated three (actually more because Raina collaborated on one inspiring group project) artworks to the F Cancer charity auction by Polygon Alliance happening on July 6, 2023.
According to their website, "F Cancer is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the United States and a registered Canadian charity focusing on prevention, early detection, and supporting those affected by cancer. With wit, edge, and humor, we’re changing the way people think and talk about cancer and encouraging them to be active rather than passive when it comes to their cancer risk." To find out more about the F Cancer, check out their website. To see Polygon Alliance's 2022 event, visit their gallery in Spatial. If you are interested in purchasing art from so many amazing artists for this powerful cause, join the Twitter space on June 29 at 12pm EST to learn how. Link on the promo image in this post. Beer and Napkins Creator Community Meetup
What is Beer and Napkins?
Mission Brew an idea revolution by encouraging conversations, connections, and diverse thinking methods in informal grassroots environment. We will accomplish by:
In 5 years brew a national ecosystem of breweries, pubs, and communities of growth to foster and advance skills creating new entrepreneurs and designing solutions to complex social and business challenges. What is The Diner Studio doing at Beer and Napkins? There is one very obvious answer, but we don't need to go into that. We are honored to stand in as hosts for the evening. Our plan is to encourage meetup guests to share their organizations or personal goals, team up with people who share similar goals and ideate solutions by sharing resources. After teams ideate, we will share their artifacts of ideation in Creator Community Pub/Hub on Spatial. Stay tuned for details and how you might be able to join a future Beer and Napkins Creator Community meeting in the metaverse! |
Women in Tech Conference
From creativeowls.io/women-in-tech-metaverse-event/:
The Women in Tech 2023 Showcase event is an annual conference dedicated to celebrating and supporting the achievements of women in the Web3 industry. The event aims to provide a platform for women in tech to network, learn, and showcase their work to a wider audience. To celebrate International Women’s Day in March 8th, 2022, Metaverse luminary @MyCreativeOwls, and Digital AI artist @Vans_Cmkro hosted Women in Tech 2022 virtual showcase in Spatial.io, where 53 Women from all ages leading the NFT space were showcased. The gallery was opened for the month of March, and received over 12,000 views. Our goal for the Women in Tech 2023 showcase event is to celebrate and support Women in the Web3 industry, and to create a space for networking, education, and empowerment. By working together, we can create a more inclusive and diverse community within the Web3 industry, and help to pave the way for the next generation of Women in Tech. Raina, CMO at The Diner Studio, represented us well. As @VansCmkro.NFT pointed out on Twitter: "Exciting news! The Women in Tech 2023 showcase proudly presents @rainafazzAF, an artist and panel speaker. As the marketing officer for @MetaDiner and an education background, Raina brings a unique perspective to the table. Don't miss out on this opportunity to hear from her!" |
NFT.NYC '23 is gonna be HOT!
We turned in our application for NYT NYC Community Artists hours before the deadline clock struck zero. We crossed our fingers, said a prayer, and got back to work. We've checked our email ten times per day each since.
As we applauded our friends who received early letters of congratulations, we nervously continued hoping while trying to put it out of our minds. The opportunity, it began to seem, might have to be saved for NFT London. We made peace with that the best we could. Today, while still hopeful, we received the email we'd been waiting for. The Diner Studio will be one of the cool people sharing cool art in the most cool of places - North Javits, Hudson Yards April 12-14! We are now hoping to join the 200 artists to be selected to exhibit in Times Square. Time will tell. We will add more information soon! |

"From the Classroom to the Gallery"
Friday November 7, 2022 marks the first exhibit of one of GxxnAR's artworks in public in Greenville SC during a First Friday gallery crawl. To say the very least, he is excited. To take it a little further, he is so grateful to the people who are making this event possible. His words of thanks are below. We'll update during the event via Twitter.
I want to especially thank Judy Harrington, lead middle school visual arts teacher, and Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville for offering the visual arts teachers of Greenville County Schools the space for this awesome opportunity. I would also like to thank Rosemary's Art and Frame for framing my artwork. Rosemary's expertise in framing and working with artists to find just the right frame:mat ratio is beyond compare. Being the owner of a new business in Pelzer, SC isn't intimidating to her - or you can't tell by working with her anyway. |
Another thank you goes out to my direct team, The Diner Studio crew, and all of our degen friends in the NFT, metaverse, and web3 space. Your ever-inspiring works of encouragement are unparalleled. Y'all have lit a flame in me to make art greater than I would have if I buried myself in my studio and tried to do this on my own. Artists in the new web are no longer mad scientists working the night away alone in their labs. We are team mates, partners, family.
And a final thank you goes out to my loving and fully encouraging family - mom, dad, Curt, and my niece and nephew. You were there before the web existed and you'll be there beyond Web3. You know that art is what makes me me. You not only accepted that, but fully supported it as a child and pointed me in the directions to chase that passion in my adult life.
The painting is a 1:1 original by GxxnAR, finished on October 29, 2022. The media is ink on paper and will be turned into 20 NFTs for sale on OpenSea (owner of the original will receive one NFT).
Read more about this painting and event on our blog HERE.
